What is WorkWell?

WorkWell is a free one-to-one coaching service that helps Surrey residents with health issues or disabilities start, stay or return to work.

You could be eligible for:

  • A personalised support plan to help you stay in your job, return to work, or prevent time off due to illness or disability
  • Confidential support from specialist employment and skills advisors so that you can explore new career opportunities in Surrey

You can self-refer, speak to your GP, or contact us directly for support.

Who can apply for WorkWell?

If you’re worried about how your health is impacting your ability to start, stay in or return to work, WorkWell is here to support you.

To access the support, you must be:

  • Aged 16 or over
  • Living in Surrey (or registered with a Surrey GP)
  • Have the right to work in the UK
  • National Insurance number

WorkWell FAQs

After you’ve registered with a WorkWell coach, you’ll receive personalised advice, support and guidance within 7 days.

We are pausing new referrals from February 13, 2026 but anticipate we will be back up and running later this year.

WorkWell is a joint initiative from the Department of Work and Pensions and the Department of Health and Social Care.

Typically between 8 and 12 weeks. However, if you need longer, we can offer further light-touch support.

Yes. You can also refer a friend, colleague or family member.

There’s no cost as it is fully-funded by UK government.
