WorkWell is a free one-to-one coaching service that helps Surrey residents with health issues or disabilities start, stay or return to work.
You could be eligible for:
- A personalised support plan to help you stay in your job, return to work, or prevent time off due to illness or disability
- Confidential support from specialist employment and skills advisors so that you can explore new career opportunities in Surrey
- Access to local mental health or physical activity support services within seven days
- Help with mental and physical health challenges at work

Who can apply for WorkWell?
If you’re worried about how your health is impacting your ability to start, stay in or return to work, WorkWell is here to support you.
To access the support, you must be:
- Aged 16 or over
- Living in Surrey (or registered with a Surrey GP)
- Have the right to work in the UK
- National Insurance number

After you’ve registered with a WorkWell coach, you’ll receive personalised advice, support and guidance within 7 days.
WorkWell is a joint initiative from the Department of Work and Pensions and the Department of Health and Social Care.
Surrey County Council is delivering it in Surrey in partnership with local providers of health, wellbeing, employment and skills support.
Surrey County Council is working with the following local support providers to deliver WorkWell support:
- WayThrough
- Surrey Lifelong Learning Partnership focuses on skills and employment advice plus training. They also have coaches based in Epsom and Guildford.
- Active Surrey provides physical activity advice
- Spelthorne Borough Council has coaches available at the Spelthorne Jobs and Skills Hub in Staines
- Fedcap offers a mental health advisory service
Typically between 8 and 12 weeks. However, if you need longer, we can offer further light-touch support.
Yes. You can also refer a friend, colleague or family member by completing the short registration form on the Surrey County Council website.
There’s no cost as it is fully-funded by UK government.
