The SEND Teaching Assistant Role As a SEND Teaching Assistant in Cranleigh , you will work within a highly specialist environment supporting pupils who require significant individualised support throughout the school day. Needs may include: Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD) | Complex Needs | Autism / ASC | Communication Difficulties | Sensory Processing Needs | Challenging Behaviour | Personal Care | MLD | PMLD As a SEND Teaching Assistant , you could be: Providing intensive 1:1 and small-group support. Supporting pupils with complex and severe learning difficulties. Helping pupils access learning through structured, differentiated and multi-sensory approaches. Supporting communication, emotional regulation, independence and essential life skills. Working alongside teachers, therapists and specialist SEND professionals. Following individual EHCPs, behaviour plans and support strategies. Responding calmly and consistently to behaviours that challenge. Supporting personal care where required while maintaining pupils’ dignity. Building strong, trusting relationships with children and young people who need consistency and stability. We’re Looking for Experienced SEND Teaching Assistants Experience and candidate quality are incredibly important for this Cranleigh vacancy. We are looking for a SEND Teaching Assistant who can demonstrate substantial, relevant experience supporting children or young people with complex needs and/or severe learning difficulties . You could currently be working as a SEND Teaching Assistant, SEN Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, Complex Needs Teaching Assistant or Support Worker within a specialist education or care environment. You will need to be patient, resilient, proactive and confident . You should understand how to adapt your communication, recognise individual needs and triggers, and remain calm and consistent when supporting pupils with complex presentations.
