We are looking for a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join a specialist setting where every day presents the opportunity to make a lasting impact on a child’s educational journey. This role is ideal for an experienced Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, or SEN Support Worker who has worked with children with additional needs, particularly those with communication and interaction difficulties associated with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC). The school provides a nurturing and structured learning environment for pupils aged 6-11, many of whom are working below age-related expectations and require tailored support to achieve their full potential. The Role As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting pupils both academically and emotionally throughout the school day. Your responsibilities will include: Building positive, trusting relationships with pupils to help them feel safe, engaged and ready to learn. Supporting pupils with communication difficulties linked to Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) to access learning and develop independence. Assisting the Class Teacher with the day-to-day running of the classroom. Delivering targeted support to individuals and small groups. Encouraging the development of communication, social skills and emotional regulation. Supporting pupils through challenging situations using positive behaviour support strategies. Promoting pupils’ personal, social, emotional and academic development. Working collaboratively with teachers, therapists and other professionals to meet individual pupil needs. Adapting to the changing needs of the school and pupils throughout the day. Supporting with physical intervention when required (full training provided). The Ideal Candidate We are looking for candidates who have: Previous experience supporting children or young people with Special Educational Needs. Experience working with pupils with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) and associated communication needs. A patient, resilient and nurturing approach. Strong communication and teamwork skills. The ability to build positive relationships and maintain professional boundaries. GCSE Maths and English (Grade 4/C or above, or equivalent).
