QC Technician

THE POSITION We are looking for a QC Technician to join our Quality Control Microbiology team at our Pirbright site. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a background in microbiology, gained either through education or professional experience, to develop their skills within a GMP-regulated pharmaceutical environment. Location: Pirbright, UK. This is a fully onsite and fixed-term contract until end of December 2027. TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES All aspects of in-process testing where results are used to support release of batches to required specifications, including receipt of test samples. Test in support of site utilities and environmental monitoring testing programs, such as microbial count, endotoxin, conductivity and TOC. Complete laboratory documentation and data entry accurately. Support quality processes including deviations, CAPA, OOS investigations and change controls. Maintain SOPs, laboratory equipment, reagents and consumables. Ensure compliance with GMP, biosafety and HSE standards. Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the QC function. Sterilisation of equipment and waste removal from the restricted area. REQUIREMENTS A background in Microbiology or a related scientific discipline, gained through education, university studies or practical laboratory experience. Experience working in a laboratory environment, ideally within microbiology, pharmaceutical, biotechnology or another regulated setting. An understanding of GMP, GxP or quality-controlled environments, or a willingness to learn and develop in this area. Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing accurate, high-quality documentation. Good organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities while meeting deadlines. Confidence using Microsoft Office applications and electronic documentation systems.
