We have recently opened a brand-new SEND Secondary School dedicated to supporting young people (aged 11-16) with social communication, emotional regulation, and sensory processing needs. As we continue to grow, we are looking for a Nurture Teacher who thrives in a non-confrontational, high-support environment and wants to be a founding member of a school community that truly puts the student first. Why This Role is Different We don’t believe in “one size fits all.” Our students follow a broad, exciting curriculum tailored to their specific passions and interests. You won’t be doing this alone; you will work within a model of small class sizes and high levels of classroom support, backed by a supernumerary multi-disciplinary intervention team. Your Impact: Create a Sanctuary for Learning: Deliver high-quality, nurture-based teaching for pupils with Autism and associated complex needs. Innovate the Curriculum: Contribute to the development of a curriculum that balances academic progress with physical and social well-being. Champion Progress: Set and monitor personalised targets, ensuring that every “small win” is celebrated and every EHCP goal is pursued with intent. Collaborate: Work alongside therapists and specialists to provide a holistic support system for every child. What You’ll Bring We are looking for a teacher who views “challenging behaviour” as a form of communication. You should be: Resilient & Empathetic: Able to maintain a calm, non-confrontational approach in high-pressure moments. Reflective: A practitioner who constantly analyses lesson outcomes to better meet student needs. Knowledgeable: Familiar with current issues in the field of Autism and SEN pedagogy. A Team Player: Ready to contribute to a multi-disciplinary approach to student care and education. The Essentials Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) preferred (Welcome bonus applies to QTS holders). Hours: 40 hours per week (8:15 am start; finish times vary between 4:00 pm and 5:00 pm). Flexibility: While based in Chaldon, you may occasionally support our satellite site in nearby Caterham.
