Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) – SEMH School – Esher Reed is recruiting for a Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join a specialist SEMH school in Surrey. This role would suit an experienced HLTA, Learning Mentor, Behaviour Mentor or Teaching Assistant looking to take on greater responsibility within a specialist setting supporting pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. About the Role You will work closely with teaching staff to support pupils who require additional emotional and behavioural support to access education successfully. The role involves leading learning activities, supporting emotional regulation and helping pupils overcome barriers to learning. Key Responsibilities Deliver learning activities to individuals, small groups and whole classes when required Support pupils with SEMH needs to engage positively in education Promote positive behaviour and emotional regulation strategies Adapt learning to meet individual needs Build strong, professional relationships with pupils and staff Monitor progress and provide feedback to teaching teams Contribute to a safe, supportive and inclusive learning environment Essential Requirements Experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs Previous experience within a school, SEND setting or alternative provision Strong behaviour management and relationship-building skills Excellent communication skills Calm, resilient and consistent approach Right to work in the UK Desirable Experience HLTA qualification or equivalent experience Experience leading lessons or covering classes Knowledge of trauma-informed approaches Experience supporting pupils with autism, ADHD or additional SEND needs Why Consider This Role?
