School Caretaker Salary: £29,120 – £31,512 per year (dependent on experience) Contract: Permanent, Full-Time Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday (including 3pm-8pm, with an additional 3 hours per day to be agreed) Simply Education are working with a school seeking a proactive and reliable School Caretaker to support the day-to-day maintenance, compliance, and upkeep of the school site. This is a varied and hands-on role where you’ll help ensure the buildings, grounds, and facilities are safe, well-maintained, and fit for purpose, providing a positive environment for students, staff, and visitors. Key Responsibilities Carry out general maintenance, repairs, and minor refurbishment work across the school site. Ensure school grounds and outdoor areas are maintained to a high standard. Complete routine health and safety checks, including weekly fire alarm testing and legionella monitoring. Maintain accurate records of all compliance and safety checks. Support planned preventative maintenance and servicing programmes. Assist with site improvement projects and ongoing development works. Work closely with the Premises and Compliance Manager to ensure the smooth running of the site. What We’re Looking For Previous experience in a caretaking, maintenance, facilities, or site management role. Good understanding of health and safety regulations and compliance requirements. Experience carrying out basic building repairs and maintenance. Knowledge of trades such as electrical, plumbing, construction, or general maintenance is desirable. Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to work. Good IT skills and the ability to use maintenance management systems. Excellent communication skills and the ability to work with a range of stakeholders. Flexible, reliable, and able to work independently when required. Why Apply?
