Technical Field Application Engineer (FAE) Location: Gatwick (Hybrid) Salary: £75,000 – £85,000 Excellent Benefits The Opportunity Are you a hands-on engineer who loves bridging the gap between cutting-edge hardware design and real-world customer integration? We are partnering with a leading global innovator in advanced visual interface technologies. As a Technical Field Application Engineer , you will serve as the premier technical authority for a sophisticated portfolio of display and Human-Machine Interface (HMI) solutions. Working closely with both specialized engineering clients and internal R&D teams, you will play a pivotal role in shaping how next-generation products are designed, optimized and brought to market. Key Responsibilities Customer Technical Champion: Deliver both high-level remote and on-site technical consultation, guiding customers through complex hardware integration, troubleshooting and optimization phases. Design-In Support: Collaborate with the commercial team to evaluate client design pipelines, propose bespoke technical solutions and deliver deep-dive product demonstrations to engineering teams. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with manufacturing and internal engineering to ensure seamless product delivery while feeding critical market requirements back into the R&D roadmap. System Optimization: Actively resolve integration challenges on the ground, ensuring display solutions achieve peak performance within diverse host environments. Required Technical Expertise Display & Touch Technologies: Deep technical understanding of LCD, OLED, and touchscreen architectures, specifically regarding their integration into complex HMI systems. Protocols & Hardware: Solid familiarity with display interface protocols (MIPI DSI, HDMI, SPI, IC, LVDS) alongside practical knowledge of PCB layout principles and EMI/EMC compliance. Software & OS Integration: Proven capability configuring and tuning display drivers across Linux, Windows, or Android platforms. Strong scripting/programming skills in C/C++ and Python are highly desirable. Optical & Performance Tuning: Exposure to colour calibration, gamma correction, and optical bonding techniques to maximize display readability in challenging environmental conditions. Qualifications & Experience A Bachelors or Masters degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a closely related technical discipline. 4 years of dedicated experience in display technology integration, hardware application engineering, or specialized technical support within HMI-focused industries. Exceptional communication skills with the ability to translate intricate technical concepts to both internal teams and external client stakeholders. Flexibility to travel across the UK to support client integration sites as required. Whats on Offer?
