Location: Surrey Simply Education are excited to be working with a school that is seeking a passionate and dedicated Nurture Teacher to join their growing team. This is a fantastic opportunity to become part of a specialist SEND secondary school supporting young people aged 11-16 with social communication needs, emotional regulation challenges and sensory processing differences, commonly associated with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC). As a Nurture Teacher, you will play a key role in creating a safe, supportive and inspiring learning environment where students can thrive both academically and personally. The Role The successful candidate will deliver high-quality teaching and learning for students with autism and a range of additional needs. You will support pupils who may have multiple learning difficulties and, at times, present behaviours that require a calm, nurturing and consistent approach. Working as part of a collaborative multidisciplinary team, you will help students develop confidence, resilience and independence while achieving their individual educational goals. Key Responsibilities Deliver engaging, differentiated lessons that meet the diverse needs of learners. Contribute to the development and delivery of a broad and balanced curriculum. Plan, prepare and assess learning through effective short, medium and long-term planning. Set, monitor and review personalised learning targets for students. Track and report on student progress through written reports, reviews and parent meetings. Create structured, motivating and challenging learning environments. Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, support staff and families. Contribute to EHCP reviews, Personal Education Plans (PEPs) and Looked After Child (LAC) reviews. Maintain an up-to-date understanding of autism and best practices in SEND education. Support positive behaviour management strategies in line with school policies. Foster a nurturing, inclusive and non-confrontational learning environment. Adapt to the changing needs of the school and support wider school activities when required. What We’re Looking For Essential Qualified Teacher Status (QTS). Experience working within specialist education or SEND settings. Experience supporting pupils with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) and Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). Strong understanding of differentiated teaching and personalised learning approaches. Knowledge of the National Curriculum. Understanding of autism, social communication needs and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. Excellent communication, organisation and teamwork skills. A nurturing, resilient and adaptable approach to teaching. Desirable Additional SEND qualifications or specialist training. Experience developing or adapting curriculum content for learners with SEND. Knowledge of co-occurring conditions associated with autism and their impact on learning.
